Donor-designated funds have local impact

Saint Paul, MN, December 15, 2007:
Sobriety High Foundation (SHF) released today $29,045.00 in donor-designated funds to Sobriety High Charter School (SHCS). These funds were raised by Sobriety High Foundation specifically to benefit the four local campuses of Sobriety High Charter School, located in the four quadrants of the Twin Cities.

“These funds are in addition to the $250,000 in grants the Foundation will make to the Charter School in fiscal 2008”, said Rae Eden Frank, Executive Director of Sobriety High Foundation. “As part of its mission to support recovery high schools, the Foundation helps the campuses raise monies specifically targeted by donors to support local expenses. We raise these funds and pass them on, 100% of the donor’s gift, directly to the Charter School for campus use.”top of page

“These funds have immense local impact”, said George Sand, Interim Executive Director of Sobriety High Charter School. “The local campus Community Advisory Board, together with the Program Director, can allocate these monies to activities and supplies they might otherwise might have to forgo. The students of Sobriety High are the real beneficiaries of these dollars.”

For over 15 years, Sobriety High Charter School has operated small, personalized, achievement-oriented high schools for youth who have a commitment to stay sober. Campuses are located in Edina, Burnsville, Maplewood and Coon Rapids. Current enrollment is approximately 200 students.

Established in 2003, Sobriety High Foundation’s (SHF) mission is to provide funding and quality professional assistance to recovery schools, almost exclusively in Minnesota. As their primary conduit of contributed funding, SHF directly supports five recovery campuses in Minnesota: the four schools of SHCS; and the Libre Academy, which is part of the Litchfield Public School system.
