Minneapolis Hilton (directions)
Given for significant contributions in support of youth, their education, and their recovery.
Amethyst, a clear purple gem with glints of sun-gold, has long symbolized recovery and transformation. This gem was chosen to honor the Minnesotan who is making significant contributions to youth, their education, and their life in recovery.
The ancients used the gemstone Amethyst as a detoxifier (especially with poisons, including alcohol.) It was believed to help bring calmness and clarity where formerly there was anxiety and confusion. Today, Amethyst is the Stone of Sobriety and Transformation. Perhaps no other stone symbolizes the First Step, Sobriety, and the 12-Step Program as does Amethyst.
